KPMG Los Angeles donated 3,000 new books to the Essence K. Coprich Library at the 116th Street Elementary School located in Watts. The book donation is being made by KPMG's Family for Literacy Program, which focuses on providing books to children from low income families as a way of helping combat childhood illiteracy. This 3,000 book donation is part of the 16,000 books KPMG committed to donating last month while participating in We Day California at the Forum in Inglewood. We Day is a youth empowerment movement meant to inspire young people to make a powerful change in their community and across the world. To fuel excitement, KPMG pledged to donate one book for every We Day attendee to schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. In addition to KPMG professionals and members of the 116th Street Elementary School community, honored guests included: Congresswoman Maxine Waters, 43rd District, CA and Anthony Aguilar, LAUSD Instructional Director.
